Following Diagnosis Early Intervention Services

Early Childhood Intervention Services in Victoria support parents and families of children with developmental delays and special needs by providing specialised programs, services and support. There are early intervention services for children with a hearing loss and their families. The services are family-centred and focussed on increasing parents’ knowledge, skill and confidence in raising their child with a hearing loss.

Early Intervention practitioners are specially trained to help parents understand more about hearing loss and how to best support their child. For example, they can help parents learn more about using hearing devices such as hearing aids and cochlear implants as well as other visual communication mechanisms like sign language and lip reading.

The services are offered by both government and non-government organisations.
